With a background in Laban dance, Alexander Technique, Hatha Yoga, Gestalt Psychotherapy, meditation, Shiatsu and traditional massage, Emily Edmunds offers a very broad knowledge of physical, emotional, and spiritual disciplines as the basis to her bodywork.

As a child, Emily's mother - herself a practising physiotherapist - encouraged an awareness of posture and taught her daughter to fundamentally understand the body and how to move with consciousness.

During her graduation as a student of dance at the Laban Centre, and at Roehampton University, Emily suffered a cycling accident which created the cause to seek physical help in the form of massage, shiatsu, and osteopathy. As she recovered, her fascination with massage had taken root, and she decided to devote her energies to developing her own technique.

Emily has been studying massage since 1994, and in 1999 qualified as a practionner of therapeutic massage with The London College of Massage, studying with Marcus Salnicki.

Currently, Emily is studying a post-graduate course in remedial massage for muscular and skeletal disorders, taught by the director of The London College of Massage, Isabelle Hughes. This work provides a very physical basis for Emily's work, which has a spiritual healing quality, and an emphasis on energy redistribution and balancing.

Emily uses a variety of techniques, gleaned from years of study and research, ranging from classic Swedish style, to Eastern acupressure, to healing energy flow, Reiki style, and basic understanding of chakra blocks and emotional stagnation. Every treatment Emily gives is different, because every person has there own ever changing needs.
